Would you completely give up paper for digital
by cyberpunk 12 Months ago
After seeing the amazon kindle which isn't a brand new concept as sony's had an e-reader for a while now which does look better than the kindle btw. but after seeing the kindle it made me think of buying the thing.. that a paperless world was within reach, just a credit card purchase away. If i had a few extra dollars i'ld probably buy the darn thing for testing..

but it leads me to the question would you trade paper for digital limitless paper (limited to memory of device)? would you completely trust in digital with no physical archival (paper _base_d fs)

Never! Not everyone can afford a digital device or even will understand them.

Though I like the PDA for notes and reminders paper is a thing I couldnt give up completely for writing down notes.

point taken. Somethings i still gotta do by paper. the latest thing i've replaced is my daily task / to do list which generally was paper managed (relative to work) but now i use http://rememberthemilk.com it gets the job done and with great integration it im's me ovver messenger to say stop what u doing and go do this now. it sends me sms's it sends me email reminders the works. i love it. but sometimes i still find my self going back to paper.

i really do wonder though. will a paperles world ever be a reality.. will trees live without fear..? i mean picture this. your at some tech conference adn they have a section for meeting tech people exchange business cards and thing.. everybody take out them handset. turn on bluetooth and pairing and business card swapping begins. and i dont mean just the textual info. with the image of the card and the works. like a complete company profile or sorts the thought of that... sweet

In a heartbeat. We have long since had the means of ridding ourselves from the paper trail and the trouble that comes with it (environmentally, lost data, inefficient etcetera). But yet we keep going back to paper. Paper is not necessary anymore, it hasn't really been necessary since the 21st century, yet people are still conducting business requiring massive amounts of paper.

This is especially at the university level. Lecturers keep insisting that people hand in these huge 40 page documents instead of just getting it emailed... cho, mi nah bother start argue more pan this

I believe it will b one day, it may take a while with contracts and things that may require signing as ppl fear forgery etc. but things that are just for reading purposes may become paperless. Also I thought that that thing re exchange of business cards electronically was already going on
