So i was browsing around the place gathering various info on linux distros when i saw an article on linus torvalds and i read it. As soon as i finished reading the article a question flashed across my head...

What distro does Linus use? Did he create his own distro? does he still use the first gen linux!!! or is he a part of the ubuntu family?

If anybody knows please tell me... and if you dont know, lets speculate a bit

While browsing the closing thing i came up to an answer was that He really dislikes Gnome and prefers the KDE flavour... all of a sudden i feel like switching to Kubuntu

bleh.. Linus could prefer a shell login for all i care.. the default flavor of ubuntu is the best brew evar.. at least for me. I love me some gnome man.. Love love love love it.

Everything just perfect. I cant wait for the release of the neww version of the gnome desktop environment we should have gnome 2.20 just around / right before the release of gutsy gibbons.

As for linus's distro I wouldn't be surprised if He was running a custom. Or a modified version of a popular linux flavor distro *cough* ubuntu *cough*

He uses a mac wid linux loaded on it. He said it in an article somewhere. that it shouldnt be considered a mac box. So we know he uses kde and its a mac box lol

I'm trying to figure out why he preferes kde over gnome. Sure as hell don't.
@skillachi What made you say you'ld switch to kde? I hope its not just because Torvalds uses' it.

Yes i was saying i would switch becuz torvalds uses it but I was just joking about the switch. Torvald's doesnt use gnome because he doesnt like the people who are currently in charge of developing gnome, he says they have habits of removing features for no good reason without fully explaining to the user and some other stuff.

However i do plan to install kubuntu, maybe dual boot (still not sure yet) just to test it out, I havent really used KDE before to be honest, i am used to gnome and XFCE which i used when i was running xubuntu on ma old pc

I actually installed kde 3.5 yesterday. Installed that alogn with flux box. and kde really is pretty but.. I can see it clearly that its for the user thats just being weened of windows in a linux transition.

Also it is a sluggish bitch.

I"m contemplating taking another run at fvwm I've done it before but man that was a real headache here's my old fvwm setup



my main problem with fvwm is too much configuration and secondly there's this window focus issue which i'm not sure if it has been ironed out as yet.

if i'm writing a document and someone instant messages me bam my document is gone and i'm typing in the im window and i dinn't even realize it.

Strangely enough since using kubuntu (on friends system) i found gnome to be more sluggish than kde... well his specs are a tad better than mine so i'll do a better check later
